I have a funny relationship with ageing. The older I get, the more self-assured I assume I’m going to magically become. In truth though, it’s gotten harder to ignore insinuations to not buy the neon dress that the shop owner thinks is too ‘girly’ for you, and to move on to a slightly more womanly one. It also gets harder to digest that the average Instagram influencer is all of 16-years-old, and that I’m no longer the youngest copy editor in the Vogue office. But with each passing day, I’m beginning to see that age truly is just a number—the more years you rack up, the more life experiences you learn from, the more fabulous outfits you collect, and the less you care about what someone else thinks of you. The only opinion that matters is your own, and you can do what you want, when you want, and always wear exactly what you want. From the likes of entertainers like JLo, Jennifer Aniston and Madhuri Dixit, who’ve sustained long careers and look great doing it, to icons like artist Yayoi Kusama and model Carmen Dell’Orefice, our world is full of timeless icons. If you’re looking for inspiration, read on.
