Back in January 2010, Lady Gaga appeared for the first time on The Oprah Winfrey Show—in a white sequin jumpsuit and a spiky headpiece, nonetheless—to discuss music, art, and the origin of her stage name. Oprah’s takeaway from their interview? “The message of Gaga is to be who you are.” Nine years later, it’s that very message that has captivated the O of O’s attention again, and this time, it’s via makeup.
Gaga recently launched Haus Laboratories, a beauty brand devoted to promoting inclusivity and kindness: “We say beauty is how you see yourself.” And now, Oprah has selected the Haus Laboratories Glam Attack Holiday Set as one of her coveted Oprah’s Favorite Things items for 2019. In the meme-worthy video below, Gaga explains her company’s mission while giving Oprah a little tutorial.
“It’s very important for us that everyone feels welcome at Haus Laboratories, and we’re just so happy,” Gaga says, with Oprah quickly interjecting, “That’s why it’s on my list of Favorite Things!”
Not sure what the heck a Glam Attack is? A quick rundown: The liquid shimmer powder is essentially a “smudge-proof” eyeshadow that glides on easily for a subtle or instantly eye-catching finish. The holiday set includes six cheekily-named shades (Aphrodite, Chained Ballerina, Rose B*itch, Biker, Dynasty, and Legend), all of which can be additionally used as a highlighter or as an accessory to your favorite lip stick or lip gloss (we suggest Haus Labs’ Le Riot Lip Gloss). Oh, and the products also come in a sleek flap-over pouch that doubles as a clutch.
In the clip, Gaga offers Oprah a hilarious makeup tutorial that’s one for the memory books. “I could not be more thrilled to be on your list!” Gaga says. Playfully following Oprah’s instructions (“Do me!”), Gaga uses her fingertips to plop a layer of liquid powder at the center of Oprah’s lips. “I like the way it goes on!” Oprah says, adding, “Gaga just did my lips!”
The pair also bonds over the struggle of achieving a perfect smoky eye, which Glam Attack makes easy. “You just put that on, and it’s done!” Oprah says.
And if wearing emerald or yellow gold glitter isn’t your thing, don’t worry: The Glam Attack Holiday Set also includes subtle shades like champagne. As Gaga’s makeup artist and Haus Labs Global Artistry Director Sarah Tanno told OprahMag.com in September: “There’s something in there for everybody.”
